Sony next mid-range phone looks to be its biggest update in years. Leaks of the Xperia 10 VII show a fresh new design, a compact OLED display, and Android 15 right out of the box. With a bigger battery, lighter body, and up to 2TB storage support, this compact phone could be Sony smartest upgrade yet.

A redesigned camera setup

The most noticeable change is on the back. Instead of the slim vertical strip used in past models, Sony has adopted a horizontal pill-shaped camera bar. This houses a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization, a 13MP secondary lens, and an 8MP front camera. The wider design not only updates the look but could also improve heat management and stability when placed on a flat surface.

Compact display with subtle changes

Sony is keeping the display at 6.1 inches, making the Xperia 10 VII one of the few truly compact phones left. The leaked sheet lists an OLED panel with FHD+ (1080 × 2340) resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. That is a slight shift from Sony usual 21:9 format, offering a broader feel while remaining easy to use one-handed. Some reports also suggest a 120Hz refresh rate, though this has not been confirmed.

The phone itself measures 153 × 72 × 8.3 mm, weighs just 169 grams, and is expected in three colors: Charcoal Black, Cedar White, and Turquoise.

Hardware and performance

The Xperia 10 VII runs on Qualcomm SM6475 chipset from the Snapdragon 6-series, paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. A microSD slot supports expansion up to 2TB, a rarity in today market. The phone will launch with Android 15.

Connectivity features include Sub-6 5G, 4G LTE, 3G, and 2G support, plus Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi, dual-SIM, and USB-C. A 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging powers the device.

The Xperia 10 VII is rumored to debut in October 2025, with pricing expected in the mid-range segment.
