Apple today unveiled the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch SE 3, a rugged adventure companion with expanded connectivity, endurance, and health capabilities that redefine performance. It raises the bar with a sizable screen, satellite messaging, and extended battery life.
Bigger display with faster constant refresh
The Ultra 3 delivers Apple’s largest watch screen yet, thanks to LTPO3 with wide-angle OLED that offers sharper visuals from wider angles. It refreshes every second in always-on mode, so users can easily view second-by-second movement.
The lean borders enable a more immersive screen without altering device size. The increased brightness and speed bring clarity to watch faces like Waypoint with live compass and Night Mode options.
Speedy 5G and longer battery life
This model supports 5G cellular, letting users stream music, podcasts, and apps faster even when away from their iPhones. Dual-antenna tech boosts signal strength in areas with poor coverage.
Battery runs up to 42 hours in normal use and up to 72 hours in Low Power Mode. For continuous GPS workout tracking, it provides 20 hours when in low power settings.
Built‐in satellite messaging keeps users reachable
Ultra 3 includes two-way satellite messaging for safety and communication off the grid. It allows texting to emergency services, messaging contacts, and sharing location even without cellular or Wi-Fi.
In case of crashes or falls when out of range, the watch can send emergency alerts with location automatically once a satellite is in view. All satellite features are free for two years.
Health intelligence with hypertension alerts and sleep score
It now detects signs of chronic high blood pressure and notifies users accordingly, offering an invaluable preventative insight. Sleep Score helps track quality of rest to support better wellness routines.
A new Workout app feature called Workout Buddy, powered by on-device Apple Intelligence, delivers tailored motivation using fitness history and training data.
Green design with recyclable materials
The case uses titanium sourced entirely from recycled materials, including recycled cobalt in the battery and titanium in the body. Production employs a 3D printing process that cuts raw material use in half.
It is assembled using only renewable energy and arrives in fully fiber-based recyclable packaging. The product is durable, repairable, and backed by long-term software support.
Pricing, availability, and finishing touches
Pre-orders open immediately, with availability starting Friday, September 19. The price begins at $799 in the U.S., and finishes include natural and black titanium.
New bands include Trail Loop with reflective weave, along with updated Alpine Loop and Ocean Band colors, plus Hermès En Mer options.
