OnePlus 15: The OnePlus 15 is tipped to launch next month with a blazing fast 165Hz screen, as OnePlus China’s president promises an “Ultra-High Refresh Era” for smartphones.
The OnePlus 15 is almost here, and the company is already building big expectations around its next flagship. In a recent post on Weibo, Li Jie, President of OnePlus China, confirmed that the upcoming device will introduce what he calls the “Ultra-High Refresh Era,” with the brand promising the smoothest mobile experience yet.
OnePlus challenges Apple with faster displays
Li Jie began by congratulating Apple for finally adding 120Hz refresh rates across its entire iPhone lineup, including the base model. He described high refresh displays as one of the most important improvements in smartphones over the last ten years, calling them features that are “hard to go back from.”
But OnePlus is not stopping at 120Hz. The OnePlus 15 is expected to feature a 165Hz screen, which would make it one of the fastest panels in the industry. Li teased that this upgrade will deliver an ultra-smooth, ultra-high framerate gaming experience, letting players “play with ease and win with ease.”
A new era for OnePlus
This bold move recalls the release of the OnePlus 7 Pro six years ago, which helped popularize high refresh screens with its 90Hz display. Li says the OnePlus 15 will once again set the pace, while the rest of the industry will eventually follow.
Still, not everyone is convinced the leap from 120Hz to 165Hz will be as dramatic as the jump from 60Hz to 120Hz. Even so, competitive gamers may notice and appreciate every extra frame.
The OnePlus 15 is rumored to launch next month (October), skipping the “14” name due to tetraphobia in some Asian markets. With a 165Hz screen at its core, the new flagship is shaping up to be OnePlus’s boldest attempt yet to reclaim its role as an industry pioneer.
