Xiaomi 17 Pro: Xiaomi 17 Pro packs a 6.3-inch equal-bezel AMOLED, a handy 2.7-inch rear screen, Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition power, a 6300mAh battery with 100W/50W charging, and Leica triple cameras in a 192g body starting at CNY 5,000 (≈ $700).

Xiaomi is bringing back the charm of compact flagships with the 17 Pro. It sports a sharp 6.3-inch flat display up front and a handy second AMOLED screen on the back. Despite measuring 151.1 × 71.8 × 8.0 mm and weighing just 192 g, it slips easily into one hand. With a big 6300mAh battery, fast charging, and Leica cameras, it feels premium without being oversized.

Design and display: compact size, big immersion

The Xiaomi 17 Pro keeps things sleek with a 6.3-inch 1.5K AMOLED (2656×1220) framed by four equal 1.18 mm bezels, giving it a strikingly balanced look. The panel supports LTPO 1–120 Hz, 12-bit color, P3 wide color, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+, topped with Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass for added toughness. Peak brightness hits 3500 nits, while the M10 luminous system improves red light efficiency for brighter visuals without wasted power. Eye-care extras include TÜV low-blue-light, circadian-friendly, and flicker-free certifications, with DC dimming across the full brightness range. Despite packing all these premium features, the phone remains comfortably pocketable with a curved middle frame for easy grip. Color options include Black, White, Cool Smoke Purple, and Forest Green.

The smart rear screen: more than a novelty

On the back sits a 2.7-inch AMOLED (904×572, up to 120 Hz) that mirrors the front panel’s color space. It shows live cards for ride-hailing, flights, food delivery, music, and calls. You can pin QR codes, order numbers, and images, jot sticky notes, and set dynamic wallpapers including pet themes and personalized clocks.

The rear screen also levels up selfies and vlogging: use it as a preview window for the main cameras so your selfies get the same image quality as the rear shooters. A Photo Booth mode adds fun templates and even supports one-tap printing with a compatible Mi Home printer. Remote car control through the Xiaomi Auto app is also planned via updates.

Performance: third-gen 3 nm with all-big cores

Power comes from Qualcomm’s 5th-generation Snapdragon 8 “Extreme Edition”, built on a third-gen 3 nm process with a 2+6 all-big-core Oryon CPU up to 4.60 GHz, an upgraded Adreno GPU, and a faster Qualcomm AI Engine. Xiaomi’s HyperCore scheduling works with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage to keep everything responsive (up to 16GB/1TB). A stereo ring-pump vapor cooling system with a 3D protruding base spreads heat over 4637 mm², helping sustain frame rates during long gaming sessions. In lab tests, this chip shows solid gains: CPU up by 20%, GPU by 23%, and AI by 37% compared to the previous Snapdragon 8 “Extreme Edition,” with cache boosted by 50% and high-load power reduced by 20%.

Battery and charging: stamina with speed

The 6300mAh high-density cell uses a silicon-carbon design aimed at long life, with lab data suggesting ≥80% capacity after 2000 cycles. You get 100W Xiaomi Surge wired and 50W Xiaomi Surge wireless charging, plus 22.5W reverse charging both wired and wireless. The USB-C port supports PPS up to 100W and PD3.0, while Xiaomi’s Surge P3 and G2 chips boost efficiency and cold-weather performance.

Leica triple camera: ready for tricky light

All three rear cameras are 50 MP:

  • Main (Ultra-High-Dynamic): f/1.67, OIS, Light & Shadow Hunter 950L sensor, LOFIC processing for a wider dynamic range.
  • Floating Periscope Telephoto: 5× optical zoom, OIS, and a 20 cm tele-macro for crisp close-ups at a distance.
  • Ultra-Wide: 102° field of view with 5 cm super macro and autofocus.

Leica Summilux optics and a stack of anti-reflection coatings reduce flare and ghosting while preserving contrast and detail. Video capture reaches 8K/30 and 4K up to 120 fps, with Dolby Vision supported in select modes. There is also a 50 MP front camera with autofocus if you prefer a standard selfie view.

Extra camera features include: rear-screen selfies, Live Photos, Auto Super Moon, motion capture, Super Night, object tracking, portrait bokeh, Master Lens Pack, street photography, Pro mode, long exposure, slow motion, and more.

Connectivity and extras: made for travel and cross-device life

The 17 Pro covers wide 5G bands, Wi-Fi 7 with MLO, and Bluetooth 5.4 with modern codecs (aptX Adaptive, LDAC, LHDC 5.0, and more). Multi-function NFC and USB 3.2 Gen 1 data speeds (with a compatible cable) are on board.

Xiaomi’s Star Communication System uses AI to predict weak spots and smooth out streaming in elevators, subways, and high-speed rail. You also get UWB for precise device interactions and digital car keys, IP68 dust/water resistance, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio, a high-dynamic 4-MIC array, and 3D ultrasonic fingerprint unlocking.

For navigation, it supports GPS (L1 + L5), BeiDou, Galileo (E1 + E5a), GLONASS (G1), QZSS, and NavIC (L5), along with AGNSS, Wi-Fi positioning, data-network positioning, and sensor-assisted positioning.

Software and cross-device perks

Running Xiaomi HyperOS 3, the phone adds Super Island quick actions and Xiao Ai smart suggestions, including circle-to-act gestures. It plays nicely with Apple gear: resizable Android app windows on Mac, Touch ID/Face ID unlock for Mi Share Desktop, notification sync between a Xiaomi phone and an iPhone, NFC tap-to-share, and cloud photo transfer.

Sensors

The Xiaomi 17 Pro includes a full sensor array: proximity, under-display and rear ambient-light sensors, accelerometer, gyroscope, electronic compass, X-axis linear motor, IR blaster, flicker sensor, laser AF sensor, barometer, and hall sensor.

Memory, storage, and what is in the box

Configurations go up to 16GB RAM + 1TB storage (LPDDR5X + UFS 4.1), with 12/256GB and 16/512GB options as well. In the box you get the phone, power adapter, USB-C cable, protective case, pre-applied screen protector, SIM eject tool, and documentation.
