OriginOS 6: Vivo and iQOO are about to change the way their phones feel. Until now, global models used Funtouch OS while OriginOS was only in China. This October, OriginOS 6 powered by Android 16 is going worldwide, and India is one of the first markets to get it.

Preview Program begins September 29

Both brands have confirmed an OriginOS 6 Preview Program for Indian users, opening for registration on September 29. The sign-up process has not been detailed yet, but spots are expected to be limited. Vivo’s official teaser on X used the hashtag #vivoXSeries, hinting that X-series phones will get first access.

On the iQOO side, Shankar Singh, DGM of Product Management at iQOO India, revealed that the iQOO 13 will be the first device to test OriginOS 6 in India. This gives flagship owners a front-row seat to the new software.

Global debut in October

OriginOS 6 will be introduced in China on October 10, with a global launch on October 15. The upcoming Vivo X300 series and iQOO 15 will ship with it pre-installed, while a broader rollout roadmap for older models is expected later.

For the first time, Vivo and iQOO users across markets will share the same interface. The update promises smoother animations, refined visuals, and smarter AI tools, all wrapped in a more consistent global experience. For Indian users, September 29 marks the start of a new software era.
