vivo Y500 Pro: Vivo confirms the Y500 Pro launch with a 200MP Samsung HP5 camera, big battery, and flagship features set to arrive by the end of 2025.
Vivo just launched the Y500, but it is already preparing something bigger. The company has confirmed the upcoming vivo Y500 Pro. What makes it stand out is the camera—this will be the first Y series phone to feature a 200MP main sensor. It is a major upgrade for a midrange phone and could be one of the boldest moves Vivo has made in this lineup.
A real Pro step for the Y series
Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao has addressed the leaks directly, confirming that the Y500 Pro will use Samsung’s ISOCELL HP5 200MP sensor with an f/1.88 aperture lens. This sensor has a 1/1.56-inch size, which means it is not just about the megapixel count but also about capturing more light and detail. Han described it as a “Pro-level” upgrade for the Y line, which has never before featured such advanced camera hardware.
Reports also note that Vivo’s flagship X300 series will use an even larger custom HPB 200MP sensor, showing the company’s dual strategy premium optics for its flagship X models and a groundbreaking first in the midrange Y series.
Building on the Y500’s success
The move to 200MP looks even more impressive when compared to the regular vivo Y500. That device launched in China with a 50MP main + 2MP depth camera setup, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300, a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, and an enormous 8,200 mAh battery. It also comes with IP69 water and dust protection and runs OriginOS 5.
With the Pro model, Vivo appears to be keeping the strong base of the Y500 while adding serious camera power on top, giving midrange buyers a taste of flagship photography.
Launch timeline
Vivo has officially confirmed that the Y500 Pro will launch by the end of 2025. While the exact release date and global availability are yet to be revealed, the announcement itself has generated excitement.
If Vivo manages to pair the massive 200MP sensor with the Y500’s proven battery life, durability, and smooth display, the Y500 Pro could easily become one of the most talked-about midrange smartphones of the year.
