Google: Google brings Gemini AI to smart homes with new Nest cameras, Walmart onn devices, and a Google Home Speaker. Prices start at $99, with Gemini features rolling out in the US first.

Google is officially bringing its Gemini AI into the smart home with the launch of Gemini for Home. Alongside the platform, the company is rolling out three new Nest devices, new budget-friendly Walmart onn cameras, and an upcoming Google Home Speaker all designed to make security and daily routines smarter, not just connected.

Nest cameras with sharper video and smarter AI

The new lineup includes the Nest Cam Indoor (3rd gen), Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd gen), and Nest Doorbell (3rd gen). Each now records in 2K HDR, a jump Google says is essential for AI-powered accuracy. Independent DXOMARK testing backs that claim, ranking the cameras best in their class for image quality.

The Nest Cams feature a 152° field of view, while the Nest Doorbell offers a 166° diagonal, 1:1 view wide enough to capture both visitors and packages on the ground. A new sensor and wider aperture extend full-color recording at dawn and dusk, while IR LEDs handle nighttime clarity. The Outdoor Cam and Doorbell are IP65 rated to withstand rain, wind, and snow.

Prices land at $99.99 for the Indoor Cam, $149.99 for the Outdoor Cam (or $249.99 for a two-pack), and $179.99 for the Doorbell. Availability is wide for the Indoor and Outdoor models across the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and much of Europe. The Doorbell, however, is limited to the US and Canada.

Gemini for Home: AI that makes footage useful

The real game-changer here is Gemini for Home. Cameras now send descriptive alerts (“dog jumps out of playpen”) along with zoomed-in animated previews. If you want to review past footage, the new Ask Home search feature lets you type or speak a question like, “What happened to the vase in the living room?” and get clips with explanations instead of manually scrubbing hours of video.

For quick overviews, Home Brief condenses long footage into short summaries. Google has also doubled the free event video history from 3 hours to 6 hours of clips, each about 10 seconds long and paired with AI-generated descriptions.

Gemini for Home is rolling out first in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, and Australia, with other regions following in early 2026.

Walmart onn cameras expand the ecosystem

In a major shift, Google is opening its platform to partners. Walmart’s onn brand is the first to join, with two new Gemini-compatible devices: the onn Indoor Camera Wired ($22.96) and the onn Video Doorbell Wired ($49.86). Both plug directly into the Google Home app, support Gemini AI features, and can unlock extended history and advanced alerts through a Google Home Premium subscription.

These onn devices hit Walmart stores and walmart.com in the US starting October 1, giving buyers a budget-friendly way to access the same smart features as Nest.

New Google Home Speaker arrives in 2026

Google also teased a brand-new Google Home Speaker, arriving in Spring 2026 for $99.99. Unlike current Nest and Home speakers, this one is engineered specifically for Gemini with on-board AI processing for faster responses, a 360° audio setup, and an RGB light ring that signals when Gemini is listening, thinking, or responding including in Gemini Live mode.

Google Home Speaker

The speaker supports stereo pairing, surround sound with the Google TV Streamer 4K, and multi-room setups across both Home and Nest speakers. It will be available in more than 20 markets, including the US, Canada, UK, much of Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
