Galaxy S26 Ultra: Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature a new Privacy Display that dims sensitive content and narrows viewing angles automatically to protect your screen from prying eyes.

Samsung is preparing to introduce a clever new privacy feature with the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra. Called Privacy Display, it helps keep your screen safe from wandering eyes without using a special screen protector. The feature automatically dims or hides parts of the screen when needed, protecting your personal info while still keeping everything easy and natural to use.

What Privacy Display actually does

If you have ever used a privacy screen protector that blocks side viewing angles, Samsung’s new feature delivers the same effect only smarter and without the extra layer on your screen. It is a software-controlled privacy filter that automatically limits side-angle visibility and dims sensitive areas of the display when needed.

The feature can obscure specific sections, such as notifications or picture-in-picture (PiP) windows, ensuring no one nearby can peek at your private content. It even activates automatically when entering your PIN, password, or pattern, or when viewing protected photos in the Gallery.

Smart triggers and customization

Early screenshots shared by X user Ach reveal an Auto Privacy toggle in the settings. This allows the phone to automatically enable Privacy Display in crowded public spaces like elevators or public transport. Users can also schedule it manually or assign it to specific apps such as banking, messaging, or payments giving full control over when privacy protection kicks in.

Samsung’s implementation goes beyond blanket dimming. The system can detect what you are doing and adjust protection only where it matters, keeping the rest of the display bright and usable.

Maximum Privacy and hardware exclusivity

There is also a Maximum Privacy mode, which further reduces screen brightness and contrast when Privacy Display is active. This makes your screen nearly invisible to anyone sitting next to you, though it may require you to raise brightness manually in well-lit environments.

While the feature was found in One UI 8.5, reports suggest that it needs new display hardware to work properly. According to Ach, it will be exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra and unavailable on older models, even if they receive the same software update. Given Samsung’s history of reserving advanced screen tech for its Ultra series, that exclusivity seems likely.

By combining intelligent automation with fine display tuning, Samsung’s Privacy Display could become one of the most practical screen innovations yet protecting your information seamlessly, wherever you use your phone.
