Galaxy XCover7 and Galaxy M54: Samsung releases the stable Android 16-based One UI 8 update for Galaxy XCover7 and Galaxy M54. Check firmware details, regions, and new features now available.

Samsung has officially started rolling out the stable One UI 8 update based on Android 16 for the Galaxy XCover7 and Galaxy M54. The update brings smoother performance, a refreshed design, and practical upgrades that make both phones feel faster and more modern. While flagship models usually get updates first, Samsung has surprised users by giving these mid-range devices an early start.

Galaxy XCover7 gets Android 16 early

The rugged Galaxy XCover7 is receiving the One UI 8 update with firmware version G556BXXUBDYIA. As confirmed by SamMobile and SammyFans, the rollout has started in Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, New Zealand, and Malaysia, with more countries to follow soon.

This update is an important step for the XCover line, which normally receives updates later. The new software improves stability and animation smoothness, offering a cleaner and more responsive interface. Battery life and privacy have also been enhanced, helping the XCover7 perform better in outdoor or professional environments where reliability is key.

Galaxy M54 joins the Android 16 rollout

The Galaxy M54 is also getting the One UI 8 update, arriving with firmware version M546BXXU9EYI4. The update is already live in Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand, Myanmar, and Malaysia.

Users report smoother scrolling, quicker app loading, and refined transitions. Samsung has also updated several apps such as Calendar, Gallery, My Files, and Quick Share, adding small design and usability improvements. The Gallery app, for example, now includes an Instant Audio Eraser feature, while the Calendar makes switching between events and reminders easier.

What’s new in One UI 8

The One UI 8 update focuses on polish and performance rather than big visual changes. Users will notice:

  • Smoother animations and cleaner menus
  • Better privacy controls and stronger security
  • Improved battery optimization for longer use
  • Updated Samsung apps with simpler layouts
  • Selective Galaxy AI tools for photos and text assistance (depending on device)

How to update

To check for the update:

  1. Open Settings → Software update
  2. Tap Download and install

Make sure your device has at least 50% charge and is connected to Wi-Fi. Since rollouts happen in phases, some regions may receive the update a little later.
