What’s new in Android 16
The Android 16 update for the Xperia 10 VI focuses on smoother performance, cleaner navigation, and better battery management all while keeping Sony’s minimal, no-bloat design intact.
New “Modes” hub for smarter control
Sony has added a new “Modes” section under Settings → Modes, merging Do Not Disturb, Bedtime, and Driving into one convenient place. You can even create custom modes with icons and rules to control when and how notifications appear.
Display improvements
Under Display → Image quality settings, a new Recommended option automatically optimizes visuals based on content. White balance controls have been reorganized for easier adjustments.
Side sense gets reorganized
The Side sense feature now lives under Settings → System → Gestures → Side sense, offering a clearer guide to split-screen and pop-up multitasking.
Lock screen customization
You can now personalize your clock style directly from Wallpaper & style → Lock screen, or quickly access it by long-pressing on the Home screen.
Easier casting and screen mirroring
Screen mirroring is now grouped under the Cast control in Quick Settings. If it is missing, you can easily re-add it by editing your Quick Settings layout.
Battery health tracking
A much-needed addition you can now monitor battery health under Settings → System → Device diagnostics → Component health → Battery status, helping track long-term performance.
Simplified settings
For a cleaner layout, One-handed mode now resides under System → Gestures, and auto app updates are managed through Google Play settings instead of system settings.
A strong move from Sony
With Android 16 arriving for both the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI, Sony shows a stronger focus on faster updates across its lineup. The new software does not reinvent the experience it simply makes it smarter, smoother, and more practical.
