Galaxy S23: Samsung begins rolling out Android 16-based One UI 8 for the Galaxy S23 FE in India and Galaxy S23 series in the US. The update brings Galaxy AI tools, Call captions, and camera upgrades.
Samsung has started rolling out its much-awaited One UI 8 update based on Android 16, bringing a fresh and smarter experience to Galaxy S23 users. The update is now live for the Galaxy S23 FE in India and the Galaxy S23 series in the US. It adds new Galaxy AI features, camera upgrades, and the latest security patch, making the phones faster and more polished.
Galaxy S23 FE and S23 Series: Update details, size, and new features
For Indian users, the Galaxy S23 FE is getting the One UI 8.0 update with build version S711BXXUAFYI6 / S711BODMAFYI6 / S711BXXUAFYI6, weighing around 2.84 GB, while the Galaxy S23 series in the US (S23, S23+, S23 Ultra) is receiving build S916USQU6EYI7 / S916UOYN6EYI7, sized at about 3.4 GB. Both versions include the September 1, 2025 security patch.

The update brings Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite with the banner “Elevate your everyday with Galaxy AI.” Users will notice practical improvements like Call captions, which add live subtitles during calls, and AI Portrait enhancements in the Camera and Gallery for cleaner edges and more natural lighting. Performance, stability, and security have also been improved across both versions.
Once installed, Samsung recommends opening the Galaxy Store to update system apps, ensuring full compatibility with the new features.
Before downloading, make sure your phone has at least 6–8 GB of free storage, is charged above 50%, and is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. It is also a good idea to back up your data using Smart Switch or Google Backup.

After the update, verify the new software under Settings → About phone → Software information, then explore the refreshed Camera, Call captions, and AI tools. If you use Good Lock, check for module updates, as some features may require new versions.
Do note that the US build uses bootloader version U6, which prevents downgrading to older firmware through normal OTA methods.
A smarter and smoother Galaxy experience
This rollout marks a major step in Samsung’s software journey. The new Galaxy AI tools make daily use more intuitive, while Android 16 brings faster animations, improved privacy, and deeper personalization. Users may notice slightly higher battery drain right after updating a normal part of post-install optimization.
With One UI 8 now spreading globally, Samsung is ensuring that both Indian and US Galaxy users experience the same smarter, smoother, and more personal interface. The combination of Android 16 and Galaxy AI finally gives the S23 series the intelligence and polish it deserves.
