Huawei MatePad 12 X 2025: Huawei MatePad 12 X PaperMatte debuts with a 12-inch 2.8K 144Hz HDR Vivid display, PaperMatte anti-glare tech, Kirin T92B chip, 10,100 mAh battery, and Smart Magnetic Keyboard included.

Huawei has officially launched the MatePad 12 X PaperMatte (2025), a premium tablet designed to handle both work and play. With a slim 5.9 mm body, the new Kirin T92B processor, and a sharp 2.8K HDR display, it is one of the most capable MatePads yet. To make things even better, Huawei includes the Smart Magnetic Keyboard in the box at no extra cost.

Elegant and lightweight design

The MatePad 12 X PaperMatte carries a sleek all-metal design that looks and feels premium. Measuring 270 mm in width, 183 mm in height, and just 5.9 mm in thickness, the tablet is impressively slim for its size. At around 555 g, it is also light enough to carry around with ease.

Huawei added a stylish touch to the rear panel by using natural mica powder, which gives the surface a pearlescent glow that changes with the light. The tablet is available in two finishes, Greenery and White.

A display built for comfort and clarity

The highlight of the MatePad 12 X is its 12-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 2800 × 1840 (~280 PPI). It covers the P3 wide color gamut, delivers 16.7 million colors, and has an impressive 88% screen-to-body ratio. The adaptive refresh rate can jump from 30 Hz up to 144 Hz, giving smooth animations when needed and saving power during lighter use.

Huawei also added HDR Vivid support for richer color and contrast. The PaperMatte version of the display features nano-etched glass that cuts reflections by up to 50% and reduces light interference by 99%. With TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free certifications, plus SGS Low Visual Fatigue approval on the PaperMatte model, this screen is designed for long reading or creative sessions.

Power from the new Kirin T92B chip

Inside, the tablet is powered by the Kirin T92B processor, supported by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. HarmonyOS 4.3 comes pre-installed, bringing smooth multitasking and productivity features.

Huawei also focused on cooling, with a 3D vapor chamber and high-conductivity graphite to keep temperatures in check. According to the company, this setup boosts sustained performance by 27% compared to older models.

Cameras, sound, and entertainment

On the back, the MatePad 12 X features a 50 MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, autofocus, and LED flash. It captures photos up to 8192 × 6144 pixels and records 4K video at 30 fps. The front camera is an 8 MP sensor that supports 1080p video at 30 fps, making it ideal for calls and online meetings.

For audio, the tablet comes with six speakers tuned with HUAWEI SOUND and two microphones, providing clear sound for both media and communication.

Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, OTG, and USB-C with USB 3.1 Gen 1 support. Sensors onboard include ambient light, gravity, Hall, and a gyroscope.
