Huawei Nova Flip S: Huawei Nova Flip S leaks reveal it may launch soon with either the new Kirin 8030 or the Kirin 8020 chip, bold colors, HarmonyOS 5.1, and up to 1TB storage.

Huawei is getting ready to launch its next compact foldable, the Nova Flip S, and the biggest mystery right now is its processor. Recent leaks point to two possible options: the new Kirin 8030 or the more familiar Kirin 8020. Whichever route Huawei takes, the Nova Flip S is shaping up as one of the most anticipated foldables in its class.

Kirin 8030 or Kirin 8020?

The Nova Flip S will likely feature either a toned-down version of the Kirin 9020, called the Kirin 8020, or a brand-new chip carrying the Kirin 8030 model name. If Huawei chooses the 8020, it would not be a surprise since that chip already powers the Nova 14 Ultra. However, tipsters suggest that the 8030 is more likely, which would make the Flip S the first device to debut it.

The Kirin 8020 is said to be a downclocked version of the Kirin 9020, offering a 1+3+4 CPU setup with speeds up to 2.29GHz. On the other hand, the CPU and GPU details for the Kirin 8030 remain unknown, but insiders believe it is designed to deliver better efficiency and smoother performance for foldable devices.

Storage, design, and software

What is clear is that Huawei is sticking with 12GB of RAM and three storage variants: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The design will stay close to the previous Nova Flip generation, keeping its sleek clamshell profile intact.

Huawei is also refreshing the lineup with bold new colors including Sakura Pink, Zero-degree White, Sky Blue, Stars Shining Black, Feather Sand Black, and a new Green option.

On the software front, the Nova Flip S is expected to ship with HarmonyOS (HongmengOS) 5.1, making it one of the first foldables to run the latest version of Huawei’s in-house operating system.

What comes next

The official launch date has not been confirmed, but with leaks stacking up, the debut could be close. The only uncertainty is whether Huawei goes with the brand-new Kirin 8030 or the proven Kirin 8020. Either way, the Nova Flip S promises a stylish foldable with upgraded performance and plenty of personality.
