iPhone 17 Pro: Apple iPhone 17 Pro is official with a gorgeous aluminum build, brighter Super Retina XDR display, all-new Camera Control, and the powerful A19 Pro chip. Pre-orders start September 12 from $1,099.

Apple has officially launched the iPhone 17 Pro, a device that redefines what users can expect from a premium smartphone. With a heat-forged aluminum design, upgraded displays, professional-grade cameras, and Apple most advanced chip yet, the new Pro raises the bar across every category.

Design and Build

The iPhone 17 Pro features a heat-forged aluminum unibody enclosure that improves durability while creating space for a larger battery. A new vapor chamber cooling system, sealed with de-ionized water, moves heat away from the A19 Pro chip, ensuring smoother sustained performance.

Protection comes from Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, claimed to be three times more scratch resistant, and reinforced Ceramic Shield on the back, rated four times more crack resistant. Buyers can choose from Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue, or Silver finishes.

Apple also introduces a Camera Control button, giving instant access to photo and video settings, while the familiar Action button remains customizable.

The enclosure itself uses 50% recycled aluminum, alongside numerous other recycled inputs such as 100% recycled cobalt in the battery.

Display and Performance

The iPhone 17 Pro includes a Super Retina XDR OLED panel with ProMotion up to 120Hz, HDR, True Tone, Always-On support, and anti-reflective coating. The 6.3-inch display delivers 2622 × 1206 resolution at 460 ppi. Brightness reaches 1,600 nits HDR peak and 3,000 nits outdoors, making it Apple brightest display ever.

Inside, the A19 Pro chip powers the experience with a 6-core CPU, a GPU capable of hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Thanks to the vapor-cooled chassis, the Pro models can sustain performance during gaming, video editing, and AI-powered tasks without throttling.

Cameras and Video

Apple has equipped the iPhone 17 Pro with three 48MP “Fusion” rear cameras: a main 24mm lens with second-gen sensor-shift OIS, an ultra-wide 13mm with a 120° field of view, and a telephoto with optical-quality zoom at 100mm (4×) and 200mm (8×). Together, they deliver up to 16× optical-quality zoom and digital zoom up to 40×.

On the front, an 18MP Center Stage camera improves selfies and calls with autofocus, ultra-stabilization, and features like Dual Capture and Macro shooting.

For filmmakers, Apple has added a professional video suite. The iPhone 17 Pro records 4K Dolby Vision at 120 fps, supports ProRes up to 4K/120 with external recording, and offers ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, Genlock, spatial video, macro video, Action mode, and Cinematic mode. Four studio-quality microphones with wind noise reduction complete the package.

Battery and Charging

Battery life is another standout: the iPhone 17 Pro lasts up to 33 hours of video playback. Fast charging delivers 50% in just 20 minutes with Apple new 40W USB-C adapter, or via MagSafe with a 30W+ adapter in 30 minutes. Wireless charging supports up to 25W on MagSafe and Qi2.

Software and AI Features

Running on iOS 26, the iPhone 17 Pro introduces Apple Intelligence features such as Live Translation, Visual Intelligence, distraction removal with Clean Up, Genmoji, and new Writing Tools. Apple emphasizes on-device processing for privacy, though availability may vary by region.

Connectivity and Durability

Connectivity is cutting-edge with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, 5G mmWave and sub-6, dual eSIM support, and USB-C with 10 Gb/s transfer speeds and DisplayPort output. Apple suite of satellite services including SOS, Messages, and Roadside Assistance remains free for two years. Both models carry IP68 water resistance, surviving submersion up to six meters for 30 minutes.

In the Box and Accessories

Inside the box: iPhone with iOS 26, USB-C charging cable, and documentation (no adapter). Accessories include a new TechWoven case, updated silicone cases with strap connectors, and a Crossbody Strap accessory. Full MagSafe ecosystem support remains.

Environmental Efforts

Apple says the iPhone 17 Pro uses 30% recycled content overall, 50% recycled aluminum in the enclosure, 100% recycled cobalt in the battery, 100% recycled rare earth magnets, fiber-based packaging, and is assembled at zero-waste facilities.

Extra Features

  • ProMotion refresh down to 1 Hz for Always-On
  • Anti-reflective display coating, 1-nit minimum brightness
  • Full accessibility suite including Eye Tracking and Live Captions
  • AirPlay up to 4K HDR, AV1 decode support
  • Face ID powered by the Center Stage camera
