iPhone 17 Pro Max: Leaked iPhone 17 Pro Max images reveal a bigger battery nearing 5,000 mAh, triple 48 MP cameras, and a solid aluminum structure with reworked internals.
Apple’s next flagship is still weeks away from its official unveiling, but new internal design images of the iPhone 17 Pro Max have leaked, offering the clearest look yet at what could be a major year of changes for the Pro Max line. The schematics appear to confirm a larger battery, a more robust aluminum body, and subtle reconfigurations to MagSafe and other key components inside the chassis.
One of the biggest highlights from the leak is the battery. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to ship with a capacity close to 5,000 mAh, a meaningful jump over the 4,676 mAh unit inside the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Beyond providing more endurance, the cell is also shown to be covered in a solid metal casing rather than the typical foil design. This change is aimed at improving heat management and ensuring more efficient performance during heavy use, something that ties into earlier reports of Apple adopting a vapor-chamber cooling system for the new Pro lineup. Interestingly, the images point to two different shapes for the battery an L-shaped design for models with a physical SIM tray, and a more rectangular version likely for eSIM-only models sold in markets such as the United States.

The overall structure of the phone also looks to be evolving. Apple seems to be moving to a solid aluminum internal frame, replacing sections that were previously glass-backed. This shift could increase durability while also allowing for the rearranged internal components. The MagSafe coil has reportedly been repositioned as part of this change, making room for the larger battery and cooling enhancements. The substrate the foundational board connecting core electronics has also been altered, hinting at deeper architectural changes designed to support next-generation performance.
On the camera front, Apple is expected to give the Pro Max a significant upgrade. The rear setup is said to feature three 48 MP sensors covering wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto duties. A 24 MP front camera is also rumored, offering sharper selfies and improved video calling. If true, this would mark the first time Apple has standardized 48 MP resolution across all three rear lenses.
All of this comes alongside Apple’s next-generation A19 Pro chipset, which will likely pair with 12 GB of RAM for smoother multitasking and gaming. The leak also suggests the phone may be slightly thicker than its predecessor, growing from 8.25 mm to around 8.7 mm, though the change should be barely noticeable in day to day use.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to debut in early September, with U.S. pricing likely starting at around $1,249. Given the combination of a larger battery, improved heat management, and a powerful camera system, this could be Apple’s most substantial Pro Max upgrade in years.
