iPhone 20: Apple’s iPhone 20 leak points to a futuristic button-free design, a smooth glass look, and a powerful LOFIC camera sensor as Apple prepares to celebrate 20 years of the iPhone in 2027.
Apple is reportedly planning something big for the iPhone’s 20th anniversary in 2027. The upcoming iPhone 20 could feature a bold new design that looks like a single piece of glass, with no physical buttons and a camera made for professional-quality photos and videos. If the leaks are true, this may be Apple’s biggest iPhone redesign since the iPhone X.
A single-piece glass design
Apple is said to be testing a design that makes the iPhone look like one smooth slab of glass. The display will reportedly have sloping bezels, making the edges blend perfectly into the frame for a seamless look. From the front, the phone might appear as if it has no separate parts at all.
This new design celebrates 20 years of iPhone innovation, reflecting Apple’s long-running focus on simplicity and precision. The “one-piece glass” concept is also expected to improve durability and water resistance while giving the device a futuristic appearance.

No physical buttons, only haptic touch
One of the biggest rumored changes is the removal of all physical buttons. Instead, Apple could replace the power, volume, and camera controls with solid-state haptic buttons that mimic real clicks using tiny vibration motors.
These touch-sensitive buttons would give realistic feedback while improving resistance to wear and water damage. Users may also be able to perform new gestures like swiping or pressing and holding directly on the button surface to control the device more intuitively.
Major camera leap with LOFIC technology
The iPhone 20 Pro models are expected to introduce a new Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor (LOFIC) camera sensor. This advanced sensor allows each pixel to capture more light, greatly enhancing dynamic range and image detail, even in challenging lighting conditions.
Apple’s implementation could deliver cinema-grade image quality, reportedly reaching up to 20 stops of dynamic range. Huawei has already used this technology in its Pura 80 Ultra, and Apple is expected to join other top brands like Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo, and Vivo in adopting LOFIC sensors by 2027.
iPhone 19 skipped and early launch expected
Apple is rumored to skip the iPhone 19 name, aligning the “iPhone 20” branding with the anniversary year. The launch could happen earlier than usual, possibly in mid-2027, to match the 20-year milestone.
The phone is also expected to feature a brighter and thinner OLED display, a new Apple Silicon chip, and improved power efficiency for longer battery life. Before then, the iPhone 18 Pro Max may preview some of these advancements with a variable aperture camera and a larger 48MP periscope lens designed for better low-light shots.
