Nubia Z80 Ultra: Nubia confirms the Z80 Ultra launch for October with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a true hole-free display with 144Hz refresh, and a next-gen ultra-wide camera built for low light and backlight scenes.

The nubia Z80 Ultra is coming soon, and the company is calling it its “Super Powerful Flagship.” Set to launch in October with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the phone promises serious performance. Early teasers highlight two key upgrades: a clean, hole-free display and a next-level ultra-wide camera designed to stand out.

A true full-screen display with gaming-ready specs

The Z80 Ultra continues Nubia’s tradition of hole-free, under-display camera designs, delivering an uninterrupted OLED screen. Nubia’s VP, Zhang Lei, says this generation significantly improves clarity compared to its predecessor. The panel runs at 144Hz refresh rate, with a 360Hz touch sampling rate and instantaneous 3000Hz spikes, promising silky visuals and pinpoint precision for competitive gamers. It is currently the only flagship with a true hole-free full screen, giving videos and games unmatched immersion.

Triple-camera system with a serious ultra-wide upgrade

For photography, Nubia returns to a triple-camera setup. The centerpiece is a large-sensor ultra-wide module with a 1/1.55-inch sensor, 1μm pixels, and an f/1.8 seven-element lens. With upgraded distortion control and AI-powered processing, the camera promises sharper edges, stronger backlight performance, and richer low-light shots.

Zhang Lei highlighted that the 35mm focal length main camera and new imaging algorithms are designed to preserve atmosphere, enhance dynamic range, and deliver flagship-grade results in challenging lighting.

Launch timeline and expectations

With performance handled by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and rumors pointing to a large single-cell 7,500 mAh battery, the Z80 Ultra is shaping up as one of the most ambitious Android flagships of 2025. Between its 144Hz display, meaningful camera improvements, and powerhouse chipset, Nubia looks ready to make a big impact this fall.
