Samsung has officially expanded its One UI 8.0 beta program beyond the Galaxy S25 lineup, rolling out Android 16 powered builds for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The release, which is currently live in South Korea and the UK, gives early adopters a first taste of Samsung’s next major software overhaul, complete with refined design, improved multitasking tools, and stronger security.
Galaxy S24 and S25 Lead the Charge
The One UI 8 Beta Program is now live in the UK for the Galaxy S24 series. Owners of the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra can enroll via the Samsung Members app and then download the beta through the Software Update menu. The UK build carries firmware version S926BXXU9ZYH3, S926BOXM9ZYH3, or S926BXXU9CYH3, with a size of approximately 3.2GB. South Korean units are receiving the update under firmware version S92xNKSU9ZYH3.
The update is based on Android 16 and introduces a series of under the hood upgrades alongside interface refinements. Quick Share has been redesigned with clearer separation between sending and receiving functions, while Secure Folder is now built on Android native Private Space framework, bolstering privacy for sensitive files. Samsung DeX has also been re engineered using Android 16 Desktop Mode, promising smoother performance when connecting to external displays.
The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra remain at the forefront of the beta cycle, having already received four earlier test builds. Samsung has confirmed that these models will get a fifth beta next week as the development team works on final bug fixes before releasing the stable version in September.
Foldables Get Their Turn
For the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, this marks their first Android 16 beta. Both devices receive the same security and productivity enhancements as the S24 and S25 series but also gain foldable specific improvements.
The Z Flip 6 benefits from a revamped Samsung Internet browser with a cleaner layout and new menu design, while both foldables can now take advantage of an expanded 90:10 split screen mode for multitasking. Modes and Routines have been enhanced with additional actions and conditions, giving users more granular control over automation.
Firmware versions for the foldables include F741NKSUZZYH4 for the Z Flip 6 and equivalent Z Fold 6 builds, each with a download size just over 3GB.
Global Expansion Coming Soon
While the beta is currently restricted to South Korea and the UK, Samsung is expected to expand availability to India and the United States in the coming weeks. The company previously confirmed its intention to widen access throughout August, with stable releases planned for September. According to official beta moderators, the Galaxy S25 series will likely be the first to receive the stable One UI 8.0 build, followed closely by the S24 series and latest foldables.
Key upgrades in One UI 8.0 include enhanced personalization with a morphing lock screen clock that adapts to wallpaper images, productivity boosts through smarter alarms, calendars, and reminders, and a more secure Secure Folder powered by Android 16 Private Space feature. Samsung DeX has been rebuilt on Android Desktop Mode for better stability, and multitasking has been refined with new split screen ratios and streamlined app menus.
Samsung encourages testers to back up their data before installation, noting that some apps, including Google Pay, may not function during beta testing.
With its mix of subtle polish and deep system changes, One UI 8.0 looks set to make Samsung flagship and foldable lineup even more capable by year’s end.
