Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6: The upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is tipped to bring a 2 nm TSMC process, LPDDR6 RAM, and UFS 5.0 storage making 2026’s flagship phones faster, cooler, and smarter.
Imagine a phone that stays cool while gaming, edits 4K videos in seconds, and handles powerful AI features with ease. That is what Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 promises to bring. Expected to launch in September 2026, early leaks hint that this chip could set a new performance standard for smartphones though it might also make future flagships more expensive.
From Gen 5 to Gen 6
The first phones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 hit stores last month, showing major speed and power efficiency gains. Yet Qualcomm is already preparing its next leap the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, its first chip built on TSMC’s 2 nm process.
This new design promises up to 18% better performance and 36% lower power use than Gen 5, allowing phones to stay cooler and last longer. The smaller process also makes room for more transistors, enabling faster AI processing, smoother gaming, and improved multitasking.

Faster memory and storage
The Gen 6 chipset is said to support LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage both major upgrades for smartphones. LPDDR6 delivers higher bandwidth and efficiency for seamless multitasking, while UFS 5.0 offers lightning-fast app loading, file transfers, and photo processing. Together, they make devices faster, smoother, and more reliable in real-world use.
Smarter AI and graphics power
Qualcomm is also enhancing AI and graphics. The Gen 6 will likely include a new Adreno GPU with improved ray tracing and power management, plus an upgraded Hexagon NPU for faster image processing and real-time video effects. The chip may also debut with the X90 5G modem for stronger connections and Wi-Fi 7 support.
Premium performance at a higher price
Because of the advanced 2 nm process and upgraded components, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 will cost more to produce. Standard flagships may use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6, while Pro and Ultra models get the Elite version. Expect the first Gen 6 phones from Samsung, Xiaomi, and OnePlus in late 2026 or early 2027.
