Vivo Y500: Vivo Y500 leaks show a rugged design, flagship style camera module, and a massive battery. Here is everything we know about the upcoming launch.

The Vivo Y-series has always been about offering value, but the new Y500 looks like it is ready to push things further. Early leaks show a phone with a bold circular camera design, a tough water resistant body, and a huge battery made for heavy use. It feels like Vivo wants to give mid range buyers a taste of flagship features without the flagship price.

Camera setup

The rear camera system is likely to be led by a 50MP main sensor, paired with additional sensors for depth or ultra-wide shots. The front camera could go as high as 50MP, a big step up from previous Y-series models. Camera features such as Night Mode, AI photography tools, and 4K video recording are expected.

Rugged design inspired by flagships

The design of the Vivo Y500 takes clear inspiration from the premium Vivo X200 lineup. The rear panel is flat with soft curves on the edges, while a large circular camera island sits at the center, giving it a bold and flagship like look.

Early teaser images show the phone in a glossy blue finish, though more colors such as black and silver are expected. The standout highlight, however, is its durability. Vivo has shown the Y500 submerged in water, suggesting it will come with IP68 or even IP69 water and dust resistance. That means it could handle rain, dust, and accidental drops into water with ease something rare in this price range.

A focus on endurance

Vivo is teasing the Y500 as a long lasting companion, which points to a massive battery. Leaks suggest a capacity of at least 6,000mAh, with some reports even claiming it could reach 7,400mAh in certain versions. Despite the size, charging should be fast thanks to 90W or possibly 100W fast charging support.

This combination would make the Y500 a true “battery monster,” capable of lasting all day and recharging in under an hour.

Display and performance expectations

The Y500 is expected to feature a 6.6 to 6.7-inch display, either an AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate or a high end LCD with up to 144Hz refresh. If it is AMOLED, users can expect brighter colors and higher peak brightness, close to 1800 nits great for outdoor use.

For performance, leaks mention either Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, or even MediaTek Dimensity 8400, depending on the model. Memory options could range from 8GB to 12GB RAM with 128GB to 256GB storage, along with microSD expansion. Connectivity may include dual 5G SIM slots, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and an IR blaster, making it a feature rich mid ranger.

Launch and price

The Vivo Y500 is expected to launch in China by late August 2025, with a possible global release later. Pricing is rumored to start at CNY 1,499, which is around $205 in the US or roughly Rs 17,000 in India. At this price, the Y500 could be one of the most competitive mid range smartphones in terms of durability, design, and battery life.
