Xiaomi 17 Ultra: Xiaomi 17 Ultra is tipped to feature a 200MP periscope camera, triple 50MP lenses, and new sensor fusion technology. Here is everything revealed by the latest leaks and tipsters.

If you are serious about smartphone photography, the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra might grab your attention. New reports from trusted insiders suggest that Xiaomi’s next flagship could redefine mobile camera performance with powerful sensors and next-generation optical technology.

Quad-camera system with a 200MP periscope

Leaks indicate that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will feature a quad-camera setup: one 200MP periscope telephoto lens and three 50MP cameras for wide, ultra-wide, and short telephoto shooting. The main 50MP sensor is said to have an ultra-high dynamic range, capturing better detail in both shadows and highlights.

The highlight is the 200MP periscope lens, which reportedly uses a new optical design to improve light capture and clarity at high zoom levels. Xiaomi is also testing continuous zoom technology that could deliver smoother transitions when zooming, a big improvement over the jumpy zoom found in most phones today.

Two versions, one powerful camera system

Xiaomi is expected to release two versions of the 17 Ultra. Both will share identical hardware, but the premium version is expected to offer exclusive “revolutionary” imaging features, likely powered by advanced AI processing or Leica-inspired software modes.

This means users will get the same camera quality on both models, with the premium version adding smarter image tuning and new photography features.

Three lenses or four sensors?

While most reports mention a quad-camera layout, some leaks suggest a twist. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra may actually feature a triple-lens design that still includes the 200MP Samsung HPE periscope sensor. Other sources point to four sensors but only three lenses, hinting at Xiaomi’s new “conjoined sensor technology.”

This system could combine data from the 200MP HPE and 50MP JN5 sensors, giving users a 3x to 7x optical zoom range with smoother, sharper zoom performance. If true, this could make the 17 Ultra one of the most advanced zoom cameras ever fitted to a smartphone.

Expected specs and launch window

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is rumored to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and may launch in late 2025 or early 2026. Compared to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, it is expected to bring larger sensors, improved optics, and faster autofocus, all focused on better low-light and long-zoom performance.
